"If you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a few minutes."
- Mark Twain
Coastal New England weather is highly changeable. It is a good idea to dress in light layers in the spring and fall as a morning that starts out cold and rainy can be sunny and very warm by midday. Water, sunscreen, sunglasses and a brimmed hat are important for hot and sunny days. For cold or wet days, bring rain jackets, an extra sweatshirt, umbrellas, and waterproof shoes. At all times of the year, comfortable walking shoes are a must.
