I just found this blog today and have spent the past few hours perusing many of the posts. You have inspired me, and I look forward to reading more about the progress of the jacket.

(Jane whaps Tricia over the head with a skein of yarn.)

Honey, stitching partnerships must often become like marriages or very close friendships. You talk as you stitch, you know. Breaking up the partnership is like a divorce. Think about it.

That's interesting. I started detached buttonhole work half way through last year, and I'm finding that I'm loosening tension as I become more experienced. My first attempts completely covered the ground. Now I'm leaving a bit of space, so the individual 'stitch' can be seen more readily.

Quilters often say not to worry about length of stitches...they get shorter as you get better, and use a smaller needle. I was always told to just concentrate on evenness.

Fife players are told to just work on playing the notes accurately and breathing properly. Improved tone comes all by itself through practice.

This embroidery graph seems to me to match these two other curves neatly!
